Title: Consensus on the unit sphere and some related problems

Abstract:  Connected dynamical systems may exhibit interesting collective behavior such as synchronization, where different entities or parts synchronize on some set. In this talk we focus on the set of unit vectors (or points on the unit sphere) as well as related sets. We look at protocols/algorithms chosen as (local) optimization algorithms (and related such methods) and investigate properties such as almost global convergence.

Bio: Johan Thunberg is an Associate Professor (Universitetslektor) at the Department of Electrical and Information Technology at Lund University, Sweden. He received his Ph.D. degree from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, in 2014. Between 2014 and 2018, position as a Research Associate with the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine, University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg. Between 2014 and 2018. Between 2018 and 2023 was with the School of Information Technology, Halmstad University, as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor. His research interests cover communications, control theory, nonlinear systems, and pattern recognition.
