Title: Machine Learning for Mortality Risk Prediction: A Study on Cohort Data
Supervisor: Anders Rantzer & Patrik Edén
Examiner:  Bo Bernhardsson

Abstract: This thesis applies machine learning to predict mortality risk using data from the Swedish Adoption/Twin Study of Aging (SATSA), evaluating supervised models across 10-year and 20-year timeframes. Chronological age is the strongest predictor, but cognitive function, cardiovascular health markers, and pulmonary capacity also play significant roles, with their importance varying by timeframe. A novel approach to missing data treats incomplete assessments as informative signals, improving model performance and offering insights for both clinical practice and aging research.
