Title: Practical trial of Fiber Optical Gyroscope Unaided Inertial Navigation System
Abstract:
Build and trials of Inertial navigation system which utilizes Saab's fiber optical gyroscopes and accelerometers of equal performance. The system is unaided, no outside information is given after startup and initial alignment. The system implements the navigational algorithms as defined by PG. Savage in Computational Elements For Strapdown Systems. The aim of the thesis is to build a prototype, calibrate the system sensors, implement the navigational algorithms, and perform some field testing on the INS.
