Opening for a new professorship in Lund!

Professor Karl J. Åström will retire from his position as a professor in Automatic Control at our department at December 31, 1999. We are now seeking a replacement for Karl.

    The University is looking for a person of scientific distinction who will be able to offer leadership in research, teaching and academic policy making. The University welcomes applicants working in any area of Automatic Control but the primary aim is to elect an outstanding person with experience and qualifications within the central areas of Automatic Control.

    In assessing the applicants particular importance will be give to scientific and pedagogic proficiency. Scientific ability should be documented in the ususal manner. Pedagogic skills should be demonstrated in undergraduate and graduate teaching and in supervision. In addition great importance will be given to leadership ability. It will also be considered how the applicant will supplement and strengthen research done in the existing groups at LTH.

    We now invite well qualified researchers and educators to apply for the position. To make a "bumpless transfer" we plan to have the position filled from July 1, 1999.

    The applications should reach the university no later than March 25, 1998.
